Katherine Ryan Shares Her Daughter's Reaction To The Masked Singer Reveal (2023)

But the 39-year-old Canadian comedian refused to tell her 12-year-old daughter, Violet, that she was going on the show because she was convinced she wouldn't be able to keep it a secret and "would tell the whole school".

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Katherine shared a clip of Violet in complete shock when Katherine removed the head of her pigeon costume during the pre-taped episode of the show.

Outraged that her mother didn't tell hershe was appearing in The Masked Singer,Violet threw her hands in the air as she was stunned by what she saw on the screen.

She got up from the couch and walked across the room to the back kitchen in shock.

Shock! Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Katherine shared a clip of Violet in complete shock as Katherine removed her pigeon costume head.

Violet said, 'Obviously. I knew all along, I knew it wasn't Gemma. Why would you lie?

As Katherine could be heard giggling as she filmed the clip on her phone, Violet added: 'You said you weren't in it? I knew it.'

As her newborn daughter Fenna Grace made noises off camera, Katherine said: 'Aww Fenna can't believe it.'

Revealed: Katherine's clip began with her filming her TV at home as she removed the head of her pigeon costume during the pre-recorded episode.

Katherine gave birth to their third child, Fenna, in December and was a month away from giving birth during last year's filming.

He landed in the bottom two after receiving the fewest votes along with his co-star Jacket Potato when the episode aired this weekend.

And after the judges decided to save the last one, Pigeon was unmasked as the funny woman before leaving the show.

Fawn, Rhino, Phoenix, Knitting, Jellyfish and Otter have moved on to the next round of the show when it returns next weekend.

Before Katherine was unmasked, panelist Jonathan Ross guessed it was actress Liza Tarbuck in the Pigeon costume, while Rita Ora predicted model Jodie Kidd, Davina McCall guessed Loose Woman Nadia Sawalha, and Mo Gilligan guessed actress Emily Attack.

Joking that some viewers thought she was former TOWIE star Gemma playing Pigeon, Katherine said, "I can only do a sort of Essex accent because I watch so many reality shows."

Preparing to give birth to her third child at the time, Katherine said: 'I have a month to go.

“I feel like I have a baby foot in my lung most of the time and it's actually harder than I thought.

'But you can't tell my daughter anything because she would tell the whole school and find out along with everyone else!'

Identified: And after the judges decided to save the last one, Pigeon was unmasked as the funny woman before leaving the show.

Judges Davina, Rita, Jonathan and Mo opted to save Jacket Potato from the bottom two and send them through to the next round, but none of them correctly guessed Katherine's identity.

Katherine ended the show by performing Cheryl's Fight For This Love, which she sang at the beginning of the episode.

Next week's edition of the series will feature a 'world first' in the form of a double elimination.

After the show was filmed in October,Katherine gave birth to a baby girl named Fenna Grace in December,with husband Bobby Kootstra announcing the news on Instagram.

Along with an adorable photo of his newborn daughter, Bobby also shared a photo of Katherine during her "long" labor while praising her "strength", before posting a photo of her postpartum placenta.

'Mom is amazing! Demonstrating their strength repeatedly during the relatively long labor at home. We are very blessed :)'.

Katherine also shared an adorable photo of her 18-month-old son Fred meeting his new sister, captioned 12:05am.

She later took to her story to share that there was a "glitch" during delivery that caused delays and "a little contact" but that she was fine now.

The reality TV star is also the mother of her 12-year-old daughter, Violet, from a previous relationship.

The TV personality admitted she knew she was pregnant after trying it for the first time while still breastfeeding her son Fred, who she gave birth to just 19 months ago.

Katherine shared the news of her pregnancy on her podcast, but kept quiet about how far along it was.

She said: 'I'm pregnant, I've been pregnant for a while and this is how I did it. The first time I tried it I got pregnant while breastfeeding and to be honest I don't think it will work because I'm 39, I would have been 38 when I got pregnant.

"And I thought, 'We've got to get the kids out of the way.' You never know how long it's going to take, and I love my kids. I just thought, 'OK, let's go for it. '"

Speaking on her show, she said: 'You should never tell people your due date. If you never tell them, they might never start bugging you at that point.

Difficult: She later returned to her story to share that there was a 'glitch' during the birth that caused delays and 'a bit of contact', but that she was fine now.

She added: 'You guys know I'm pregnant, I've been pregnant for a while and this is how I did it.

'And I thought 'we've got to get the kids out of the way'. You never know how long you're going to have and I love my kids. I just thought, "okay, let's do it".

Explaining that she was still breastfeeding Fred at the time, Katherine admitted that she "knew I wasn't ovulating" because "I had no noticeable dryness."

'Then one day, I was walking around and I felt, you know, wet. And I felt a little more attractive than usual," she added.

She said: 'I thought, #'well, let's wait and see, let's track all the stuff.'

Katherine added that she "forgot to try" while on tour after suffering two miscarriages, but began experiencing "sharp pain" lasting two to three minutes, which she experienced while pregnant with her son Fred.

She continued: 'I thought maybe I had my period. And I didn't expect to get my period this month because those things need to balance out after your first period when you're breastfeeding.'

"Shortly after, days later, I had a positive pregnancy test."

Katherine entered into a civil partnership with her childhood sweetheart Bobby in December 2019 in a low-key ceremony in Denmark after the couple rekindled their romance.
